What is Jarvis, exactly?

Jarvis is an operating system for AI agents, built to feel like a co-founder alongside your work. The brain holds context, coordinates agents and runs workflows. A desktop companion connects it to your computer. Workflows are the repeatable execution layer; awareness, memory, goals and conversation help make them useful.

Does a single prompt give me a finished workflow?

A prompt starts a draft with steps, prompts and variables. You review the logic, connect the required tools, test the workflow and deliberately publish it. Generated drafts start disabled. The interactive examples above are authored illustrations, not a live Jarvis session.

Are programmatic workflows completely reliable?

Explicit logic makes repeated operations easier to inspect, test and steer. It does not remove every failure: services can be unavailable, interfaces can change and AI steps still need evaluation. Jarvis’s approach is to use programmed steps where they are sufficient, and AI where understanding or judgment adds value.

What does awareness observe?

Depending on the desktop capabilities you enable, awareness can use screen, clipboard and application context. It can flag signals such as repeated app switching. Understanding a full routine may still need your input. With hosting, relevant context is sent to the hosted brain and any model provider used. Can Jarvis control a computer somewhere else?

A paired computer can provide browser and desktop tools to the brain. That computer must be awake, reachable and authorised for the required actions. A hosted brain can keep running when your laptop is closed, but it cannot operate a sleeping or disconnected desktop.

How much control do I have?

Authority settings define permissions and action boundaries. Explicit workflow steps also make it possible to inspect what will run. Approval behaviour depends on the tool and execution path, so review the authority documentation and test your setup. The example review checkpoint on this page illustrates a configured process, not a universal approval guarantee.

Can I self-host instead?

Yes. The source-available runtime is free to self-host. Bring your own hardware and model keys, or use a compatible local model. Hosted plans include the brain and an AI allowance, shared across text and voice. Download Jarvis to get started with a hosted plan.
